I feel the need to apologize.
I understand it has been nearly two weeks since a post.
The week before Opening of the inn on Friday 28th, we cleaned and painted and trained and tried to get everything as awesome as possible for openin weekend!
Our wonderful boss gave us the day off Wednesday of that week, so we went to Denver! We took in the sites of the 16th street mall and a brewery with AWESOME food :) The bike racks in the parking garages made my day! I did discover that Denver might not be for me...maybe a lil TOO big city. I am def more of a suburb/mountain lady. The guarded, lockdown bathrooms in ROSS were enough for me to decide Boulder might be the Colorado city for me.
That night we experienced the joy of bargaining with scalpers for Rockies tickets. Finding 10 seats together for under $20 each is tough, but our boys managed to make it happen :) The game ended up being SOSOSOSOSOSOSO fun! Rockies won 7-3, a hail storm passed right over the stadium..it was grand! I had a ball with my staff! They are all so wonderful. We are just a bunch of kids livin and workin together....yayayayayayayayay.
Friday, I worked the 7 am opening shift for front desk. It was nice because not a whole lot was going on so I could learn at my own pace.
It's been going real well this first week. There are of course some glitches. I took our first guests to a dirty room.....go me. I also learned I can't count....but ya know we all have our downfalls.
I really am just trying to be as encouraging to my co-workers as possible. the hospitality industry can be real brutal on those that make it possible. It's incredibly important to keep a smile on and remembering that one right move you amke can turn someone's day around. That is what I LOVE about this business, a smile, an act of kindness can change a person's mood. So many people are used to being treated like crap. People expect it. That is the perfect moment to swoop in with some kind words because the impact is so much greater. With that, one wrong move can send your guest into a rampage...but let's just pretend it's all a positive thing :)
Some fun things that have been happening:
I LOVE HIKING!!! Some days is doesn't happen, but it is just a wonderful feeling to stand atop God's creation, out of breath, arms and heart wide open singin His praises. :))))) love love love!
I found a church here that I plan on attempting to get involved in. They are such a caring community. So Blessed.
I hope to keep you all informed on my life :)
Keep livin the Jesus Dream :)
