Loving the loveable, and likeable, is hard enough.
I'm called to love the UNloveable. The grumblers, complainers, meanies, bullies, those with the social graces of a fetus, the rude, the awkward-outbursters, the opposing, the hug haters, and the others that if life were a second grade birthday party, you'd beg your mother not to invite them.
Some people are not going to be on board with me. They are not going to agree with me. They are flat out not going to like me. I will love them anyway.
Jesus loved me enough (BEFORE I EVEN EXISTED) to DIE for me. Homeboy didn't just pass in his sleep to save my soul. HE DIED an excruciating death on a fancified, planked TREE, to save me; to save us; to save a world that is less than thrilled at His Name a good portion of the time. We love because He first loved US (1John 4). During His life, He called us to love AS HE LOVED (John 15) laying His life down for His friends.
I want to lay my life down for others. I want the opportunity to truly LOVE with the LOVE of Jesus :) And not just ANYONE, but someone who has i view as less than savory. i want to love on a less than savory human being. This will require the perfect love of Christ to flow through me. May I allow it.
Boaz was given this chance in Ruth's life. He provided for Ruth and Naomi out of the blessings he has received. he was ultimately living out the work of Jesus before Jesus walked the earth, died on the cross, and rose again on the third day :)
I would like the chance to Boaz someone.
Boaz is going to be the new verb...like "google" :D
Challenge: Love on a less than savory. Romans 12 states the "kill 'em with kindness" theory in sweet, biblical terms.
