Reason for the Season

"We love because HE FIRST LOVED us." 1 John 4:19 We are called to do as Christ did; Love...LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! I cannot say that enough times. We are called to LOVE everyone. Love your fellow humans. There is absolutely NO reason to not love someone ESPECIALLY after you FIRST meet them. WHat have they done to you at that point that merits a no-love response? I'm not calling any one person out, I'm just sayin: If we are to truly live out a CHRISTian walk.....we best be lovin' on peole. CHRISTmas is a time of celebration for what our God has done for us. "For He SO LOVED the world, that he GAVE His ONLY begotten Son that who so ever BELIEVES in Him, should NOT perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16 The God of the UNOVERSE Loved YOU enough to send His Son to the Earth, live a human life, with human temptation, and die on a cross as YOUR scape goat. THIS IS A BIG DEAL! Some people cannot wrap their minds around someone loving them that much bec...

Chelsea the Elf, what's your favorite color?

Sorry for the absence team! My fam has been running like crazy since I touched down in Texas. Shocking? No. Yesterday, was just amazin. Started out with a FANTASTIC message from Pastor Robert entitled, "O Little Town of Bethlehem" talking about how God uses small, seemingly insignificant people, places, and things to perform miracles and fulfill promises :) check it out ( www.gatewaypeople.com ) After church, I went for a run. I think Texas makes me slower....awe well....gotta push through :) We loaded up the fam and headed to a SUper Target to participate in Christmas shopping for YouthWorld, an AMAZING organization in Dallas commited to being the hands and feet of Jesus in the young lives of "at-risk" children in the area. (youthworld.org) The way it works is money is donated by sponsors, and those sponsors come in and shop with the kids. They get $50 to spend however they want. Afterward, we black out barcodes and make the clothes irreturnable so that the parents...

Worth the Drive

I have been drivin a good portion of the last 2 days. Stilly to Southlake Day 1, 5pm-9pm Southlake to Bryan Day 2, 10am-1am College Station to Southlake Day 2, 4:30pm-8pm Logged a lot of hours, but was able to see some of my favorite people. I went to good ole Aggieland to celebrate the graduation of one of my very best friends of the last decade of my life. Her sweet sweet parents bought lunch for a group of us at a GREAT restaurant AND!!!!!!! her aunt and uncle gave us a tour of their PRIVATE JET...yes. private jet. It was so worth a day trip to see some of the amazing people that have shaped me into me :) Todays is a lil short and sweet...I am quite sleepy from all the drivina nd I woke up at 7 to run this mornin...told ya I wouldn't miss :)

I'll Be Home For Christmas

After a trip to the gym and some visits from my lovely friends, I decided to go home to Texas two days early :) I was ready to see my fam :) Let me give you a quick rundown of the Rose Clan: They are so fantastic and crazy and just plum fantastic :) My parents, Steel and Angie, are still crazy in love after nearly 30 years. Their secret: Keep God the center of their relationship and continue to date one another. I used to find it slighty ridiculous how MUCH my parents were together. They own and operate a publishing company together and after working together all day...they want to go on dates in the evening time. It's just adorable. They have set an amazing example for what I want in my marriage. My oldest sister, Deseree', is the most intellectually impresseive out of the five of us (yes, five). She is a practining vet in Oklahoma City. She is one of the most intelligent people I know. I helped her with her medical presentations all of vet school, and she can pronounce some w...

Time to Grow Up

"I'm 22...it's time to grow up.." I cannot count how many times I have said that in the last three weeks. I'm not plannin on gettin all serious, but there are areas of my life, I need to get a tid bit more mature. 1) My Spiritual Life: I trusted my life to the Lord on May 15th, 1994, and some days I still feel like a baby Christian. It's time to step up. Read more. Trust more. Love more. 2) My Family Life: I'm not a teenager anymore. I have no excuse to blame others for broken relationships. I need to make the effort to change things. Also, I'm an adult. It's time for me to take on responsibilities I have always relied on my parents for. 3) My Love Life: I have had a ridiculous crush on the same guy since I met him nearly a year ago. When I say "Crush", it's somethin right out of the Mandy Moore song. I mean, he is a sincerely fantastic human being and I could go on and on about him, BUT, as I said..it's been a year....the boy sti...

Bloggin in a Coffee Shop

Goodbye 2010 School year... Fare-thee-well Fall Semester.... Adios mi amigo feo..... Finals week, for me, has come to a much anticipated halt. At exactly 1:30 am, I completed my last test, an online Human Development exam that I had been dreaded since the day I pushed "download" on the class syllabus. As I predicted, it came and went without much pain inflicted upon me. I've realized a very obvious truth lately. Things are gonna happen whether you stress or not. Matthew 6:27 finds Jesus askin the age-old question, "Can any of you, by worrying, had a single hour on to your life?" another translation reads "add a cubit to your height"....bein slightly on the lower end of the measuring stick (haha...get it? ;]) I understand wanting to do nearly anything to get taller....spoiler alert: Worrying and bein anxious will not make you taller or live longer...if anything, you'll make yourself sick and cause premature health complications that would otherwise ...

Don't Let Your Heart Be Troubled

Jesus said some pretty profound things. John 14:27 is certainly my mantra now-a-days. " Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." How sweet is that?! It is a steady hand on a shaking heart :) This mornin, I used that to full advantage. I set me alarm for 6 (after going to sleep at 4....stop judging) and woke up at 9(!) THINKING it was 10...the start time for my Stat final.....insert PANIC MODE!!!!!!!!!!! I quite literally looked myself in the mirror and said, "You HAVE to calm down! Pull yourself together!" I henceforth instated a "No freak out" policy. ....whooosh...my heart has not beat that hard or fast in a long while. Thank you jesus I was on time and even was able to stroll to class with my wonderful neighbors :) I've been keeping up with the runnin...about to go again here in just a little while. One more online final and this semester is DONE :...

Joy to the World

Hi team....sorry I've been a little absent. I went ahead and took the weekend off from bloggin' because it got a little hectic. I've been sick recently (who hasn't been) so I've been trying to take it easy best I can with finals and what not just around the corner..that corner being....about 3 hours. Don't you worry though. i have still be runnin' :) Highlights of the weekend had to be a lovely Girls Christmas Movie Night at Gabby's house on Friday night then sweater makin with Darci's lifegroup at our house and falling asleep to The Incredibles :) It was just so good to hang out with some super genuine human beings :) Saturday began with visiting my dear dear friend Sarah and Tarah :) LOVE THEM! Tarah organized a visit to a nearby nursing home. She arranged for an organization she is involved with to make goodies and take them to the lovely elderly. I tagged along for an opportunity to celebrate Christmas and talk to people :) The head nurse became ...

Dancer and Prancer

Passed midnight again, but i refuse to go to bed without bloggin this month. I will succeed at this challenge :) No runnin today, BUT I went two-steppin....figured that kinda of counted :) Tonight was the last bible study of the semester. My girls are so wonderful :) It so great to see how close we've all gotten. The study of Song of Solomon was so unbelievably rewarding. We had a good time gigglin through the poetic language, but we cannot deny the fact that we learned more than we bargained for about Love. AH! God is sosososo good :) It's crazy to think, nearly a year ago, I was worried I would not be able to minister to these girls the way God would need me to... Number 1: WHO am I to know what, or who, God will use. Number 2: He Equips, the call, He does not call the "equipped" He's Just so good :) Today will be a Double Blog Day....

Tacky Sweater

Even thought it is 2:00am..I still count this as Wednesday blog. ps...2 miles today :) I was quite honestly was lookin forward to this day ALL week: TECHNICOLOR MOHAIR SWEATER DAY!!I just felt so very festive. The Crossover Christmas party was very fun and wonderful. I accidently burnt a batch of cookes, so i only made it to the party with six Chocolate Chunk Cinnamon Drizzly Dreamboats...they LITERALLY did not make it in the door. I was proposed to twice because of them. Yes, I WILL be making more haha. After my running month...maybe I'll do a baking blog.....hmmmm...perfect for January :) Tomorrow is the last bible study of the semester. Chapter 8 of Song of Solomon. God has been so faithful through the study. It has just been so fantastic :)) Kinda sleepy....blog more in the mornin :)

Double Blog Day

I'm back :) I figured since I missed yesterday, I should double up today :) I've said it before...GOD IS SO GOOD!! Overflow tonight was simply fantastic. Corporate worship is such a gift to this country. Kept up with the runnin today :) Tomorrow is a week...yay :) Man...those capenters from Cupcake Wars...SO good-lookin :) mmmmk.....I need to sleep......this was rivieting

Addiction

I know I know I know I know I know I know I missed a day of bloggin! How dare I!? I actually realized that we are in a good place with my joggin and bloggin...I am no longer MAKING myself..I want to do it......maybe a little too much. At one point last night, I got visually, physically-obviously annoyed that I did not get to run yet that day. This might pose a problem. I cannot get ANGRY if the day simply does not allow me to run....or blog for that matter. The good news is: I RAN! I have now been running every day for almost a week...for you fit fellas...that sounds like chump change. For ME, kind of a miracle. I feel God really has placed this new GO GO GO attitude within me. I could not be more grateful for my university's gym for staying open until midnight, really helped me out :) AND turns out, I can rock the eliptical AND text at the same time.....again...might become a problem. I did get home in time to feverishly write a blog before midnight, but honestly...I was sleepy......

Who Declared Today, PDA Day?

Cold Weather brings out cuddlin. Erbody's cuddlin. In church, the parking lot, the coffee shop, the grocery store, classrooms, labs, restaurants, parks, lakes, boats, moats, castles, leaves, trees....you get it: EVERYWHERE! Since I have recently started to put everything into the "Teach me how to Dougie" song:, I have prepared a little diddy for you: Teah me how to cuddle Teach me teach me how to cuddle Teah me how to cuddle Teach me teach me how to cuddle Erbody Cuddle Er-Erbody Cuddle..... :) You're Welcome :) I nearly ran over a couple in the coffee shop parking lot because they were cuddlin in my parkin space. Yes, you're cute. yes, you're in love, but I gots to park. Christmas is the season of Love, Happiness, and Couples slowin up traffic because apparently holdin hands hinders their ability to walk briskly. I'm not bitter, I just have places to be. Let me explain the end of my last post.... I came home from a concert last night and the throne of the...

Joggin and Bloggin!

Day 4 :)) Four miles and a blog post :) What a Blessed Saturday! God is so good at replacin your plans with better ones. Last night, I spent the evenin with some of my very favorite people. We went ice skating! Many don't know, ice skating is one of my favorite activities :) God has put so many amazing influences in my life. I have both spectacular girls and guys on my list of super good buddy buddies! Yay :) Speakin of God's blessins, this mornin I had coffee and went thriftin with Darci and Tayler..I LOVE them :)) SO much!! We had some lovely chit chats about our lives and changes we want to make...yay! This evenin I went to my best friend from childhood's band's concert :) YAY! I'll expand elater......I think the toilet is overflowing....

It's All About Perception

On Fridays, I work as an office clerk from 8-5. What time did my head escape my smothering pillow this mornin? 10am...that's right kiddies.....I slept through 3 alarms, 2 phone calls and a text message from my boss. For a good 16 seconds, I went into a self-pity party, wallowing in self-hatred spiral. I started thinking what an awful employee I was for oversleeping, and therefore an awful human then that spilled over into being a horrible student and a terrible friend and...wah...wah...wah..... UNHAND ME SATAN! I am blessed with a boss that was more concerned with my absence than anything. When i called her she just told me not to worry and come in whenever I got up and around. She was more understanding than I deserved, but she was understanding. I very quickly told myself to snap out of my funk and get up and brush my hair. My tardiness was sincerely not going to affect my day, so WHY let it bring down my mood? it is a BEAUTIFUL day filled with the blessings of the Lord..I'll...

"Ummm...What's a Love-Apple?!"

As promised, I am blogging on December 2nd. This is going to be rough, but I have to get used to writin in here every day no matter what :)...unless I'm in the hospital....well...then I guess I would then have more time to blog...bah So I have also started a new commitment: Running :) I will be running a half marathon in May, and a 5k early next year. I started running again over Thanksgiving break and did 3 miles yesterday and 2 today. I will do this. I am a healthy 22 year old woman. I can run 13 miles....in one sitting....right?! No gonna lie, I would like to have a cute boy holdin flowers at the finish line...but I'll finish regardless :) Now for why the title is what it is: Today was the bible study that I lead. We are currently goin over Song of Solomon (I know, I know) and today we read a passage in The Message version that referred to a love-apple....baha as Steph read is she just goes, "Ummm...Whata love-apple?!" In a very disturbed tone. Those girls just mak...

December :)

October is my favorite month, but December...oh December.....it makes me heart so happy. It's like the cute boy in your boring class who just makes it worth it. ......an oatmeal cream pie following a rigorous workout. Vanilla Raspberry Black Coffee at 5:30am.... ....a hug on a less-than-stellar day... ...a dress with pockets.... You get it. December is FANTASTIC! I am challenging myself to blog every day in December. As most of you have realized, I am a truly awful blogger when it comes to my consistency. I look at this challenge as a way to work on my reliability and commitment issues :) I'm glad I have YOU to hold me accountable :)

Love 'em Anyway

Loving the loveable, and likeable, is hard enough. I'm called to love the UNloveable. The grumblers, complainers, meanies, bullies, those with the social graces of a fetus, the rude, the awkward-outbursters, the opposing, the hug haters, and the others that if life were a second grade birthday party, you'd beg your mother not to invite them. Some people are not going to be on board with me. They are not going to agree with me. They are flat out not going to like me. I will love them anyway. Jesus loved me enough (BEFORE I EVEN EXISTED) to DIE for me. Homeboy didn't just pass in his sleep to save my soul. HE DIED an excruciating death on a fancified, planked TREE, to save me; to save us; to save a world that is less than thrilled at His Name a good portion of the time. We love because He first loved US (1John 4). During His life, He called us to love AS HE LOVED (John 15) laying His life down for His friends. I want to lay my life down for others. I want the opportunity...

Daydreamin'

Well Howdy y'all :) I have returned to the Blogger World with a fresh perspective on the whole experience. Hopefully this will be a fun experience for all involved :D I have a realization I would like to share with you all. Please note that sharin this with the world is letting go of a rather personal part of my soul: I discovered recently that i handle "girly daydreaming" in a rather interesting way. I would like to extend this strategy to the world just in case you are lookin for a way to take your thoughts captive. Whenever my mind starts to wander and wonder (on long roadtrips or during "studying" escapades) about a boy, my future career, or life possibilities far removed from my Oklahoma Reality, I send my daydreamin to a WHOLE new level. Instead of letting my heart wander aimlessly in to the pit of false hope, I suddenly transfer to a Harpo Productions sound stage. From that moment on, I am the T. Swifty of tomorrow and Oprah is asking about my inspirati...

Blog Fail!

So I sincerely failed at my attempt to blog this Summer. I am very sorry for not sharing my adeventures as much as I had planned on. I am now back in Oklahoma, finishing up my college career. I now want to use this space for encouragement and happiness. Entertaining Angels is still my over all goal in life, but possibly no longer a suitable name for the blog. I will now open up the floor for suggestions :) Have fun!

My World is Changing, I'm Rearranging

Nearly 3 weeks..... I am SOOOOOO sorry! Internet is pretty sketching up here on the mountain and when I do have it, I simply forget to blog. Life is amazing. Yes, the title for this one is from The Grinch. I've realized lately how much i am changing and how life around me is changing. Two of my best friends in college are getting married in just under a month. Half my friends have graduated and moved on to "the real world." I went rock climbing... That's right, rock climbing!! The 5', terrified of heights girl went rock climbing! It was AMAZING! Seeing God's creation from that level is just a crazy level of AWE! God has been doing SO much in my life here! He has brought me some great friends, fun times, and opportunites to share His love. What a priviledge! I miss my family and friends so much, but I am so blessed to be here and learn as much about the hospitality industry as I can. This was short. I PROMISE I'll write more about adventures later :)

Good Day

We sang a song at Rocky Mountain Church on Sunday that shared the same title as my post today. It was all about the sunrising over the mountains and the elk walkin along the side of the road and rather the rain came or stayed away it was going to be a Good Day. Why? Because God created each day for us to enjoy and share with others. The amazing part of the song was we were singing about what was right outside our windows. I just stopped and stood there realizing that I am essentially livin in my idea of paradise. I don't say this to brag, I say this because I am completely in awe of what God is doin! He put me here for a very specific purpose. He knows the desires of my heart. That is so comforting to see it played out. Yes, the Bible says this, and I believe it with all my heart, but seeing it comes to life just puts your heart in a whole new place of worship and "Yes God, You are who You Are" This place just puts a lot into perspective :) The week is going rather well S...

The Hustle and Bustle

I feel the need to apologize. I understand it has been nearly two weeks since a post. The week before Opening of the inn on Friday 28th, we cleaned and painted and trained and tried to get everything as awesome as possible for openin weekend! Our wonderful boss gave us the day off Wednesday of that week, so we went to Denver! We took in the sites of the 16th street mall and a brewery with AWESOME food :) The bike racks in the parking garages made my day! I did discover that Denver might not be for me...maybe a lil TOO big city. I am def more of a suburb/mountain lady. The guarded, lockdown bathrooms in ROSS were enough for me to decide Boulder might be the Colorado city for me. That night we experienced the joy of bargaining with scalpers for Rockies tickets. Finding 10 seats together for under $20 each is tough, but our boys managed to make it happen :) The game ended up being SOSOSOSOSOSOSO fun! Rockies won 7-3, a hail storm passed right over the stadium..it was grand! I had a ball w...

"It's the Altitude"

We blame EVERYTHING on the altitude up here! If you're tired, if you're sick, moody, hyper or slept in late: it's the altitdue. I would like to take this time to just say how amazing God is. His plan is sincerely perfect. Thinking about where I thought I would be this summer and looking around at where I am..... Praise Jesus I don't run the universe. This past week has been full of hiking, trips to Boulder, haircuts, cleaning, painting, and getting to know the town of Estes Park. Our wonderful fabulous innkeeper gave us half Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. We are crazy ahead of schedule on preparing the Inn for opening weekend (this weekend)! So the staff took sometime to hang out and become bffs :) I just adore everyone here so much! I'm getting closer with the 5 other Hospitality kiddos from OSU and I am becoming quick friends with the others. It's snowing today!! After mopping out the cabins and painting porches the clouds barrelled in over the mountain. Tr...

Wanted: Colorado Mountain Man

I found this title fitting because of my crazy urge to hike up mountains lately! (and because Dear Darci and I joked about this being the name of my blog, becuase, let's face it, that's my type :]) I realize I have three days to catch you up on, here we go, lightning round style! Sunday: Went to Mountain View Bible Fellowship right down the mountain from the Inn. I was a little nervous, but it's God's House and God's family....hopefully I'd be welcome. God blessed me with the most wonderful older women. One of them called after me as I walked in exclaiming that she did not know my face. Her name is Joyce and her and her husband lived in Waco the first three years they were married. She did not enjoy it and she has no problem letting me know that. She has been going to this church since 1962. Insert Barbie (wearing an ironic pink skirt suit) her and Joyce have been best friends since the 70's. Joyce then begins to introduce me to nearly every member of the co...

Boulder, Joyce and Barbie, Gandolf

HELLO! I know, I know...I missed a couple days! That's gonna happen, BUT I will do my best to keep you up to date on all the adventures up here. Saturday consisted of cleaning the Inn, training in front desk business, and taking my Momma to the airport. That was kinda hard :/ I realize I'm not "on my own" but driving home alone in the mountains, sure feels like it. I'm SOOO happy she was able to come with me and we could share the last couple of great days together. I returned to the Inn and got ready for our dinner out in town. We go out to see what restaurants we will recommend to guests and which ones we will learn to not be like in our own service :) This particular dinner was DELICIOUS!!!! Everything had basil in it :) So, OBVIOUSLY, I was excited :) THE DESSERT! My MOSES, the desserts were amazing! We ordered one of everything and passed them around, like a true litte family! When we got back, off to Boulder the WHOLE staff of interns went. The night started...

Christmas in May!?

Who would have thought, my first night at my SUMMER internship, I'd be drinking a mug full of peppermint tea, next to a crackling fire, while the snow tumbled down the roof of the Inn?!?! This place is just sincerely breathtaking. CAN YOU HEAR THE PITTER-PATTER OF MY HEART?!?! As you might of guessed, I made it to Estes Park! Momma and I had quite the adventure up here. Stopped by Denver....well a tid bit south in the foothills(!!!!) where we took these twisty, windy roads to see a friend of my parents. The man lives in a house that was once a cult headquarters. All the stories were so zany. One of the rooms had a giant window like the one's in the sultan's castle in Aladdin! ALSO his family owns, THE most LUXURIOUS horse barn I've ever seen!! It was nicer than most dorms I've had the pleasure of living in (:/) After the BEST fish tacos I've ever had, we headed up to Estes! My mother was not created to live in cold weather. As we continued up the mountain, she e...

Oh Hey, Y'all :)

Welcome one and all to my new (and first. yay!) blog about my crazy, awesome, blessed experiences in Estes Park, Colorado. I have an internship as a front desk agent at an Inn in that GORGEOUS location. As a Hospitality Management MAJOR.....I'm plannin on learnin a lot I just might use in the future. Hebrews 13:2 inspired the name of this lil internet based newsletter to y'all. (and TRUST me..there was a LOT of brainstorming and debate on the title!) "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by this, some have entertained angels without knowing it." I've decided to make this my motto as I meet all sorts of new, wonderful people this Summer! maybe Gabriel and Michael will pop in for a night or two at the Inn ;) I'll try my darnedest to make this blog an entertaining read. I will strive for once a day postings. (being a commitment phobe, I can't really make too many promises :/) I hope you understand! Yesterday, my BEAUTIFUL madre and I headed No...
